Khichadi is all time Favourite of mine . Everytime I prepared khichadi with white rice,this time I tried with brown rice. Brown rice is whole grain rice which is more nutritious than white rice.It has the bran and germ which are removed to make white rice.
- clean all the vegetables and cut into small pieces .keep them aside . Soak brown rice and toor dal separately for one hour .
- Heat oil in pressure pan ,add jeera and mustard seeds and allow them to splutter then add chopped garlic ,ginger and green chilli .Fry little then add onions roast till it is done . Add remaining vegetables and fry little .
- Add turmeric ,red chilli powder and salt and pour 3 cups of water into it . Put brown rice and dal and close the lid put the whistle .
- Cook till 3 whistles come and off the flame and allow it to rest .Open the cooker and serve it hot with curd or any raitha.
